A 25-year-old Centralia man is being held in the Marion County Jail on multiple charges after allegedly firing a handgun towards another man in the 600 block of East 11th Street in Centralia around 10:30 Friday night.
Centralia Police say Matthew Woods of South Maple had already left the area in a vehicle when they responded to the gunshot call. The 38-year-old Centralia man who was the alleged intended target of the single shot was not hit or injured. Woods was located by Centralia Police walking on Elm Street on Saturday and was taken into custody.
Woods was arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and aggravated assault.
Centralia Police say Woods did not have a weapon in his possession at the time of his arrest and the gun has not been located.
Police say the gunshot apparently built out of a dispute between two groups of people.
