The Illinois Commerce Commission has granted approval of a Stipulated Agreement for the installation of new automatic flashing light signals and gates at the Perrine Avenue grade crossing of the Norfolk Southern track in Centralia.
The total estimated cost for the warning devices at the crossings is $432,915.
ICC staff is recommending that the Grade Crossing Protection Fund be used to pay 95-percent of the signal design and installation costs, not to exceed $411,270. Norfolk Southern will pay all remaining signal design and installation costs and all future operating and maintenance costs related to the new automatic warning devices at the crossing.
All work is to be completed within 18 months of the order date.
