Bond has been set at $50,000 for a 28-year-old Mt. Vernon woman who was charged with attempted residential arson.
Krystyne Kelley of Park Avenue was arrested by Centralia Police in connection with a Monday fire at a home at 814 North Cherry.
Fire officials say Kelley allegedly gathered papers and wood and set them on fire in the basement of the home. She then reportedly put out the fire before leaving and calling the fire department. Firemen arrived to find the home filled with smoke and only after a search learned the fire was out.
Centralia City Firemen, with mutual aid from the Centralia Fire Protection District, ejected smoke from the home with minor damage. Since the fire had been set on a concrete floor, there was no fire damage to the home.
Kelley had the public defender appointed to represent her.
