Police Beat for Tuesday, June 8th, 2021

A 23-year-old Salem man has been arrested for aggravated domestic battery. Salem Police say Edward Kinney of Salem Mobile Home Park was allegedly involved in an altercation with an 11-year-old juvenile boy. Police report he did not require medical treatment.

An 18-year-old Mt. Vernon woman is being held in the Marion County Jail for felony retail theft of over $300 from the Salem Walmart store. Salem Police say Jasmine Hughey of Short Street had been stopped by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy and taken into custody since she was a person of interest in connection with the Salem case and a separate retail theft case in Centralia.

49-year-old Catriece Abdullah of North Merritt in Odin was arrested on an outstanding Marion County misdemeanor warrant on a pending aggravated assault charge after sheriff’s deputies were called to an early Tuesday morning disturbance at her home. Bond on the warrant is set at $3,000.

43-year-old Joshua Keebler of Wall Street in Wamac was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on a Marion County warrant to revoke his probation on a possession of methamphetamine conviction. Bond is set at $3,500.

24-year-old Matthew Harris of South Hamilton in Salem was arrested on a Marion County failure to appear warrant in a domestic battery case after spotted walking in the 1200 block of South Broadway by Salem Police.

56-year-old James Hughes of Bethalto was arrested by Sandoval Police for driving under the influence.
