A 61-year-old Springfield, Illinois woman was injured when her car was run off northbound Interstate 57 by a vehicle merging into her lane of travel near milepost 88 south of Mt. Vernon in Jefferson County.
State Police say a preliminary investigation indicates Martha Blatch left the roadway into a wooded area to avoid contact with the other vehicle that left the scene.
The crash occurred at 3:21 Monday afternoon.
