Doctor’s Nursing and Rehab announced Monday they raised $5,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association through a golf tournament last month.
Doctor’s Marketing Director Linda Poninski is appreciative of the 24 teams that golfed in the first annual Chipping Away at Alzheimer’s Tournament at the Colonial Golf Course as well as the support from others in the community.
“We hear at Doctor’s deal a lot with memory issues. We were looking for something to give back to the community and thought this would be the best direction to go to help this community. And all the money raised is going to stay in this community so we were all for it.”
Illinois Walk Manager Tina Henson says the $5,000 check earns Doctor’s the silver designation in the upcoming South Central Illinois Walk.
“The Walk itself will be held in person at Kaskaskia College on September 18th. We will begin our registration at 9:00 a.m. and the Walk will start at 10:00.”
Henson says the goal this year is $48,000. That compares to the $58,000 raised in 2019 on a goal of $30,000. There were 500 total participants in 2019. She’s hoping for 625 this year.
There is no cost to register to walk or form a team. You can do so at alz.org/SCILWALK.
