The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a 34-year-old Salem man for aggravated fleeing and eluding and driving on a revoked or suspended license after leading them on a Sunday night chase where speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour.

Drew Niebert of South Lackey was also arrest on an outstanding Fayette County felony failure to appear warrant with bond set at $2,500.

The Sheriff’s Department reports the incident began as an unwanted person complaint from a home in the 5500 block of Omega Road in rural Iuka.

Niebert had already left the residence before the deputy arrived. However, his vehicle was later reportedly found parked on Bruce Road west of Keller Road in rural Iuka. Niebert allegedly fled the deputy westbound onto B-Branch Road until it turned into a dirt road and he became stuck.

At that point, deputies say Niebert was taken into custody
without further incident.

The sheriff’s department received the unwanted person call at
10:23 Sunday night.
