CHICAGO (AP) — Eight people standing on a Chicago street corner were wounded when occupants of a passing vehicle opened fire on them.
Police officials say the shooting occurred early Sunday in the South Side Burnside neighborhood.
The wounded, including two women, ranging in age from 28 to 38. They were taken to area hospitals in serious to critical condition.
The wounded are among at least 38 people hit by gunfire in Chicago since Friday night, five of the shooting victims have died.
The violence is occurring on a weekend that has seen two teenagers, a 14-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old boy died from wounds suffered in previous shootings.
