Dimple Maxine Currie, 89, of Centralia passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Fireside House in Centralia. She was born on October 25, 1932, the daughter of Washington and Elaine (Weathersby) Westbrook in Centralia. Dimple shared a special bond with her mother, Elaine who lived to be 108 years old. She married the love of her life Glenzo Currie Sr. on December 1, 1951, and he preceded her in death on March 28, 2006.
Survivors that will mourn Dimple’s passing include her beloved family, children Richard (Marla) Currie of Edgewater, New Jersey, David Currie of Centralia, Michael (Marilyn) Currie of Dallas, Texas, Glenna Westley of St. Louis, Missouri, and Claudia Currie-Harris (Ezra Archie) of St. Charles, Missouri; grandchildren TreVance Currie, Chikahnna Rounds, Tametra Currie, Sebastian Currie, Shannon Currie, Michael Currie, Michael Currie, Amanda Currie Marshall (Andre), Kaitlyn Currie, Tiffany McNeal (Matt), Charles Moore, TaVarse Moore (Venus), Rusten Currie, and Jackie Harris; 12 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Marsha Bryant Currie, Dianna Weaver, Dreatha Currie, and Martha Nelson; host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Dimple is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenzo Currie Sr.; son, Bruce Currie; siblings, Mary, Josephine, Emma, Pete, Bennie, Claude, and John; and daughter-in-law, Mary Currie.
Mrs. Currie was a devout Catholic and longtime member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centralia, where she nurtured her strong faith. She loved to learn and was a proud graduate of Centralia High School, participating in Wiz Kids and excelling in Math. She went on to earn her certificate in Psychology. Dimple was a military wife who traveled with her husband, Glenzo while he served in the United States Air Force. They were stationed throughout Europe, even living in Germany for a time. Dimple had a gift for caring for little ones, working at a Daycare Center while living overseas. She later was a loyal employee of Kass Potato Chips and JC Penny both of Centralia. Dimple was the glue that held her family together and she was an amazing mother. She gave her heart and soul to provide support for her husband and children, giving them a warm, comfortable, loving environment to grow in. Everyone complimented Dimple’s beautiful handwriting and marveled at her passion for reading numerous books each year. She had a green thumb and she and her husband, Glenzo worked as the perfect team to bring bountiful vegetable gardens to life. Dimple held a special place in her heart for her precious grandchildren. They could always bring a smile to her face, and she never missed an opportunity to shower them with love. Dimple’s family will hold treasured memories of her wonderful life and share the stories of her love for generations to come.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2022, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centralia with Rev. Fr. Steven Pautler and Monsignor David Darin officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia. Friends and family are welcome to a visitation time Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Dimple’s honor to the American Diabetes Association.
