Fayette County Coroner Dave Harris has announced the skeletal remains found in a field in rural Brownstown are those of 33-year-old Joel Anthony Mason. He was last known to live in the St. Louis area but does have family in Fayette County.
Harris indicates the last contact anyone has had with Mason was on August 2nd, 2020. The remains were found in a field north of U.S. 40 near 1700 N on May 26th.
No other details are being released as the investigation into the death continues.
