2022 06/01 – Christopher David Bowen

Christopher David Bowen, 50, of Sandoval passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in a tragic, pedestrian car accident in Urbana, Illinois. Chris was a proud Sandoval Blackhawk and graduate of Sandoval High School, Class of 1990. He had a brilliant mind and a love of education, graduating from the University of Illinois in 1996 with a degree in Philosophy and a minor in Latin. Chris appreciated all genres of music and had impressive guitar playing abilities. He was known to rock it out while playing along with his favorites, the Beatles and Pink Floyd. Chris was a voracious reader. His happy place was a room surrounded by books of all different topics and authors. Chris loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Chaplain Joannie Naraghi officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Friends are welcome to visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval. Memorials may be made in Chris’ honor to the Sandoval Fire Department. Survivors include his parents David and Kay (Joyce) Bowen of Sandoval; brother Shane Bowen and wife Lesley of Monument, Colorado; sister Victoria “Tori” (Bowen) Walker and husband Rudie of Odin; nieces Brooklyn Walker, and Branson Walker; nephews Kaid Walker, and Kyan Walker; aunts and uncles Jean (Joyce) Anderson and husband Jim of Sandoval, Beverly Conrad of Sandoval, Roberta Bowen of Fairman, Ken Joyce of Clear Lake, Texas; and many loving great-aunts and great-uncles and cousins.

He was born on April 28, 1972, the son of Burl David and Kay Lynn (Joyce) Bowen in Riverside, California. Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold and Dolores (Kohlauff) Joyce, and Burl and Louise (Norman) Bowen; and his uncle Randy Bowen.
