A question of fitness to stand trial has been raised in the case of a 21-year-old Salem man who has been charged in Marion County Court with burglary.
Tony Rybacki of East Locust is accused of entering a car in the 700 block of South Maple with intent to commit a theft. The owner of the car had called Salem Police early Thursday morning to report a man was knocking on her door. While waiting for police to arrive, she saw Rybacki allegedly enter her car. Police say he had possession of an item that had been in the car.
Bond for Rybacki was set at $5,000 and the public defender appointed to represent him. A court hearing on seeking a fitness evaluation has been set for June third.
