Salem Police have arrested a 21-year-old Salem man for burglary to a motor vehicle and criminal trespass to a motor vehicle after he was reportedly seen committing a vehicle burglary early Thursday morning.

Tony Rybacki of East Locust was taken to the Marion County Jail.

A resident of the 700 block of South Maple Street had initially called police to report a man was knocking on the door of her home. As she was waiting for police, she saw the man enter her vehicle. Rybacki later allegedly admitted to taking a pair of sunglasses from the vehicle.

Police say a man matching Rybacki’s description had been seen attempting to enter vehicles on the Radiac Abrasives parking lot earlier in the morning. However, no one was located at that time.
