Ada Wade, age 91 of Carlyle, passed away at Greenville Hospital in Greenville on Sunday, May 22, 2022.
Mrs. Wade was born in Mills Township, Bond County, Illinois, on March 13, 1931, a daughter of Ernest and Mary (nee Wade) Hediger. She married Leland “Bud” Wade on December 6, 1952, and he preceded her in death on February 27, 2020.
Mrs. Wade is survived by her children – Barb Wade (John Gourley) of Alaska, Kathy Wade Medley (Jay) of Harrisburg, and Bill Wade (Anita) of Carlyle; 4 grandchildren – Joshua Gulledge, Melissa Forrest (Bill), Brandon Wade (Amber), and Garrett Wade (Katie); and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wade is also survived by her brothers – Murray Hediger (Eunice) and Roland Hediger (Nancy); a brother-in-law – Lyle “Burnell” Wade (Velma); and a special caregiver and friend, Diana Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers – Harold, Lucian, Lester, Vince, Wayne, and Don Hediger; and 2 sisters – Vera Engelhardt and Shirley Ismail.
Ada graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1950 and worked for DeMoulin Bros. and Co. until 1954. Besides raising her family and helping on the farm, Ada had a carpet cleaning business for several years. She was a member of Wisetown Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and worked on other committees.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the Wisetown Baptist Church, 173 Wisetown Rd, Greenville, IL. Rev. Thomas Rankin will officiate the service, and interment will follow at McKendree Chapel Cemetery near Keyesport. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at Wisetown Baptist Church.
