Police Beat for Tuesday, May 18th, 2021

Salem Police have arrested an 18-year-old Salem man for possession of a controlled substance. Zakkary Downs of Robinson Road was taken into custody when police were called to do a welfare check on another family member.

20-year-old Kheandre Hatchett of East Rexford in Centralia was arrested by Salem Police on a failure to appear warrant on a charge of destroying evidence. He remains in the Marion County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.

59-year-old Terry Winters of Alma Hatchery Road in Alma posted $1,000 bond and was released after being arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies on an outstanding McHenry County warrant.

50-year-old Michael Taylor of East Poplar in Odin posted $250 bond and was released after turning himself in on a failure to appear traffic warrant.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of a car from the Junction City Village Hall parking lot between 10:30 and 11:30 Sunday night. The vehicle was still missing as of Tuesday morning.
