The Salem City Council gets a new member Monday night. Kaskaskia College administrator Amy Troutt will be sworn into office to fill the remainder of now Mayor Nic Farley’s city council term.
The city council is being asked to complete the purchase of a new Street Sweeper from Key Equipment and Supply. The price after trade-in of the current sweeper will be $155,870. The city will borrow $120,870 from Marion County Savings Bank to allow a four year payout of the new machine.
The council will consider the rezoning of the former Reaching for the Stars Daycare facility at 622 North Marion from single family to multi-family residential to allow the building to be converted into three apartments.
The council will consider a change in the Pyrotechnic Displays Ordinance that would allow Salem Community High School to continue to shoot off fireworks
for various events in the future. Special permission was given this year for fireworks during the football games.
The Public Works Department will show off some possible water tower designs. The designs will be added when the towers are repainted this summer.
The Grace Nazarene Church is requesting permission to hold a family fun day in the park for their members and the general public on Sunday, June 13th.
The meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
