Fully vaccinate Illinoisans can now ditch the mask in most settings

Fully vaccinated Illinoisans can now ditch the mask in most settings under new state guidelines.

Governor JB Pritzker is issuing a new Executive Order, letting people who have received the required doses and passed the waiting period to skip their mask at many indoor and outdoor places.

“One of the reasons the CDC issued the rules as they did was the recognition that studies have now been done that if you are vaccinated you are protected.  If you are unvaccinated you are not protected.   I’m encouraging people who have not been vaccinated to wear their masks and get vaccinated.”

Even if fully vaccinated, everyone will still need to wear a mask in health care and congregate care facilities and on public transit.

64-percent of Illinois adults have now received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The number of new COVID-19 cases on Sunday fell to 946.  There were also six additional deaths.  All were in the Chicago area.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate fell another tenth of a percent to 2.4-percent.

The Marion County Health Department did not release new county statistics on Monday.

In Clinton County, there were three new cases over the weekend and Monday.  There are currently 11 on home isolation and three who are hospitalized.

Jefferson County reported two new cases over the past three days.  There are currently 23 on isolation.

The Washington County Health Department is reporting no new cases over the weekend or Monday.  There are currently five on home isolation and no one hospitalized.

Fayette County is reporting seven new COVID-19 positives over the past seven days.

The Wayne County Health Department is reporting no new cases Friday through Sunday.
