By WJBD Staff May 17, 2021 | 11:03 AM

Our beloved Hayden Albert Wimberly, age 22 of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Salem, has crossed the finish line in his short run of life on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. He has found peace in joining our Lord and other loved ones before him. We are thankful that his father and grandfather, who he dearly loved and missed, were there to greet him. Hayden was born in Wichita, KS at Wesley Medical Center at 10:34 a.m. on September 26, 1999, the son of Heather Wimberly and James Jagoe Jr. He grew up in Salem and graduated from Salem Community Highschool. He went on to Kaskaskia College and later Millikin University, where he competed in cross country.

Hayden touched so many lives with his love of life, great sense of humor, big hugs, and beautiful smile. Hayden had many loves in his short life besides his family and friends. He loved competition, especially when it came to track and cross country. He loved to smile and hug everyone he could get his hands on. He never met a stranger. He loved being outdoors, fishing, hiking, playing basketball with all his buddies. He had worked as a lifeguard for the Salem Aquatic Center and the Salem Country Club, worked for Schutt Sports and North American Lighting, and was currently employed with Scott Clarke Construction Company in Bluford. His biggest love in life was his son, Kamdyn Albert. He loved telling his son how much he loved him and was always wanting to show him off. Hayden grew up in the Grace Church of the Nazarene and most recently attended United Covenant Church in Mt. Vernon. He had attended Celebrate Recovery in Mt. Vernon.

Funeral Services for Hayden Albert Wimberly will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Grace Church of the Nazarene in Salem with Trent Ice officiating.
