Kids ages 12-15 can now get the Covid-19 vaccine in Illinois.

With approval of use of the Pfizer version for this age group, Governor JB Pritzker said Tuesday that the state stands ready to administer the shot.

“We built out an infrastructure across the state, we have mass vaccination sites, local health department sights and many mobile units moving around the state.  So we are going to use all of that to make the vaccine available to 12-15 year olds.”

Priztker says doctors will also be brought into the vaccination program.

“And then finally we are able because we have enough supply to provide the vaccine to physicians across the state.  So we hope that 12-15 year olds over the course of a regular checkup will be able to then get the vaccination.”

Officials urge parents to check with their local health department or health care provider about whether they need to be with their child at the time of the vaccination or if written consent is required.
