The Marion County Health Department is reporting just three new positive COVID-19 tests on Tuesday and Wednesday. New cases statewide once again stayed under 2,000, with 1,795 reported. There were 26 additional deaths. None were in South Central Illinois, but one apiece were reported in Madison and St. Clair Counties in the Metro-East. The statewide positivity rate fell another tenth of a percent to 2.7-percent.
Of the three new positive cases in Marion County, the health department reports one was a student who was not at school during their infectious period. None were long-term care residents. One of the cases is considered community spread while two are considered infections from household or close contacts. There are now 22 active cases in the county, with none of those in the hospital.
Jefferson County had seven new cases on Wednesday, with 23 currently in isolation.
Clinton County is reporting one new positive case on Wednesday. There are currently 11 on home isolation and four who are hospitalized.
