The Illinois Department of Public Health announced on Tuesday that the total number of vaccines given to state residents has topped the ten-million mark.

The milestone comes on the same day that the daily average of new coronavirus cases during the past week fell to under 2,000 for the first time in more than a month.  1,562 cases were reported on Tuesday along with 26 additional deaths.  None of the deaths were in South Central or Southern Illinois.

The statewide positivity rate for the past seven days is 2.8-percent.  As of Tuesday, IDPH officials say nearly 36-percent of the state’s population is fully vaccinated and 57-percent have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The Marion County Health Department reported no new county numbers on Tuesday.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting three new positive cases on Tuesday.   There are currently 12 on home isolation and three hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting ten new cases on Tuesday, the first double-digit day for new cases in the county since early February.   There are currently 16 positives in isolation.
