The nine-piece Little Egypt Brass Band will perform on Sweeney Corner in downtown Salem Wednesday afternoon in celebration of Cinco de Mayo.
The performance of traditional Latin music will be from three to four Wednesday afternoon.
Cinco de Mayo is an annual celebration held on May 5th commemorating the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862. Parades, food, music, folk dancing and battle reenactments are held all across Mexico every year. In the US, the date has become associated
with the celebration of Mexican-American culture.
The members of the Little Egypt Brass Band are mostly from the Salem area.
