Clinton-Jefferson-Marion-Washington County Regional Superintendent of Schools retiring

By WJBD Staff May 4, 2021 | 8:47 AM

The Regional Superintendent of Schools for Clinton-Jefferson-Marion-Washington Counties has announced his retirement. Ron Daniels is in his tenth year as Regional Superintendent, first for Jefferson and Hamilton Counties and the last six years with the consolidated office that serves the four county area.

“Well this was not the original plan for this coming year but changes in my personal life plus the desire to spend more times with the grandkids has made me make the decision to retire effective June 30th of this year.  I’ll be working with the county board to find my replacement.”

Daniels will announce his replacement as soon as the four county boards or board chairmen give their approval. He says there was a lot of work in the reorganization of the Regional Superintendent offices but says it has been a joy to work with the 45 public and 13 parochial schools in the Clinton-Jefferson-Marion and Washington County area.

Daniels says while schools are getting an influx of federal money due to COVID-19 state funding remains a concern because of the state’s budget problems.

Prior to his work as Regional Superintendent Daniels served as Mt. Vernon High School Principal and as Principal and Superintendent at Waltonville. He worked as a teacher in several districts before that.
