Charles Dennis Gualdoni of Mt. Vernon, IL passed away at home on April 29, 2022.
He was born on September 25, 1942, in Herrin, IL to Charles and Fauneil (Edelman) Gualdoni. Dennis, as he was known by those who loved him, was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Dan Gualdoni.
Dennis proudly served in the United States Air Force. Following his tour of service, he attended Illinois State University where he met the love of his life Ronda Sue Higginson. They married on June 14, 1969.
Dennis retired as an Adjustor from Shield of Shelter Insurance in 2012. Dennis loved his family and was a man of many talents. He could create beautiful copper artwork, fix and improve anything that was broken, as well as invent helpful gadgets you didn’t even know you needed, all while making you laugh with something crazy he just said.
Dennis will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Ronda; brother, Bruce (Sharon) Gualdoni, sisters-in-law, Jane Gualdoni, and Brenda (Larry) Staley; several well-loved nieces and nephews, Danelle, Patti, Jason, Jill, Mark, Eric, Stacia and Stephen; along with special friends, Jason, Kelly, Jayce and Brennen McLaurin. Dennis also loved and appreciated the unwavering friendship of Alan and Susan Sochacki, his neighbors and friends for over 45 years.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon with Mass starting at 10:30 am. Father Nick Junker will be officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield with full military rights by the American Legion and VFW Posts. Memorials may be made in Charles’s honor to Homes For Our Troops or St. Jude Hospital.
