Centralia City Firemen say all the residents escaped safely from a home after it began to fill with smoke early Monday morning. The fire was at the Bryan Maxwell home at 327 North Hickory.
Fire officials say Maxwell smelled smoke in the kitchen area and exited the home with four children. Firemen used an infrared camera to trace the fire to the attic above the kitchen.
The ceiling was removed to get to the fire which was quickly extinguished. While the fire was confined to the attic above the kitchen the fire burned through some of the ceiling framework. Most of the smoke damage stayed in the attic area.
The fire is believed to be electrical in nature.
All available Centralia City Firemen were called to the scene.
The fire call came in at 5:10 Monday morning. Firemen were on the scene until around 6:30 am.
