Salem Mayor Nic Farley will be able to take the “Acting” label off at Monday night’s city council meeting when he will be sworn in as the city’s next mayor. Councilman Jim Koehler will be sworn in for another term and Councilman Royce Bringwald will return to the council following an earlier term.
Farley will then present appointments for boards and commissions and the council will be asked to appoint a Mayor Pro-Tem.
The city council will consider the lone bid for replacement of a gas line on South College Avenue from USDI. It includes materials and labor in the amount of $228,479. City Manager Rex Barbee says they were the only contractor contacted who had the ability to complete the work this summer. It was $46,521 under budget.
A closed session is on the agenda to consider the appointment of a person to fill the unexpired two year council term left by Farley being elected as Mayor. There is also an agenda item to make the appointment.
The council meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
