2022 04/20 – Bill Runyon

Bill Runyon, age 80 of Salem, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at Willowbrook Memory Support Residences in Effingham. Bill was a member of the Regeneration Church of God in Salem. He retired from World Color Press after 24 years, prior to that he had worked for Jiffy Manufacturing for 14 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Most of all, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family.

Funeral services for Bill Runyon will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Brian Mixon officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and can be left at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. After his mother passed away, he was raised by his grandmother, Mary E. Wimberly. He married Rosetta Jourdan on April 30, 1961, and she survives him in Salem. In addition to his wife Rosetta Runyon, he is survived by four children, Jim Runyon of Florida, Tim Runyon and fiancé DeeDee Zeiss of Salem, Billy Runyon and wife Annette of Gallatin, TN, and Melissa Eddings and husband Dale of Iuka; seven grandchildren, Nikki VanHoutin and husband Tony, Josh Runyon and wife Kandace, Kadee Scruggs and husband Nick, Josie Runyon, Chase Runyon, Gavin Eddings, and Gage Eddings; two great-grandchildren, Preston Wright and wife Krystan and Emily Runyon; two great-great-granddaughters; one sister, Carolyn Runyon of Salem; two half-sisters, Terry Campbell and Judy Rhodes; half-brother, Mike Runyon and wife Glennda; and in-laws, Cecil Jones, Junior Jourdan and wife Sandra, LaVern Jourdan and wife Kayla, Geneva Richards and husband Lowell, Lucy Milner and husband Larry, and Bob Jourdan and wife Norma.

Bill was born on July 24, 1941, in Salem, the son of Merle and Frances (Wimberly) Runyon. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; one brother, Jim Runyon; and one sister, Thelma Jones.
