Arvey O. Hartlipp, 83, of Centralia passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Hartlipp was a proud United States Army veteran, who found it an honor to serve. He was a member of the Centralia VFW Post 2055 and the American Legion Post 446. He was a Shriner of the East St. Louis Ainad Shrine. A member of the Centralia Masonic Lodge 201 where he was very active in the York Rite Bodies. He was Past Master of the Centralia Lodge 201 and a Master Mason for 32 years. Arvey was a Past Excellent High Priest, a Past Thrice Illustrious Master and Past Commander of Patton 69. Arvey was an electrician by trade and a loyal employee of Hollywood Brands Candy Factory in Centralia. He continued to provide his skills when Hollywood changed hands to Leaf, following them when they moved to Robinson, where he was able to finish his career. After retirement, Arvey could be found enjoying a good cup of coffee and conversation at any number of the local dinners. Arvey was patriotic, respected by his peers, and dedicated to a job done right.
A celebration of life dual service will be held for Arvey and his son Jeff at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with Rev. Nathan Wollenberg officiating. Masonic Rites will be accorded by the Centralia Masonic Lodge 201 prior to the service time. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hoyleton where military rites will be accorded by the VFW Post 2055 and the American Legion Post 446. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Centralia Masonic Lodge 201 or Centralia VFW Post 2055. He married Juanita Newcomb in 1959, one child was born to this union, and they later divorced. Survivors include his son Jeffrey Hartlipp of Centralia; grandchildren Tyler, and Casey; 2 great-grandchildren; sister LaVerne Daum of Centralia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was born on December 31, 1938, the son of Otto and Amanda (Jones) Hartlipp in Hoyleton. Mr. Hartlipp was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Grace Meyer, Betty Englerth, and Beverly Hancok; and brother-in-law Wilfred Daum.
