Fayelda “Fiz” Elliston, 87, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 10:35 pm April 12, 2022 at Mount Vernon Countryside Manor. Fiz worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Woodlawn Bank for many years, and then later at the Woodlawn Grade School and High School. Fiz was a member of Woodlawn Christian Church and enjoyed following her family and friends on Facebook. She was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew and adored her.
A Visitation will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am with Mr. Tim Champ officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Fiz is survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Champ of Pacific, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Fizz was preceded in death by her son, Benny Elliston; brothers, Lester, Joe, and Earl Champ; and sister, Lillian “Punk” Clark.
She was born November 29, 1934 in Woodlawn, Illinois to the late Ray and Faye (Piercy) Champ. Fizz married Donald “Dick” Elliston and he preceded her in death.
