2022 04/14 – Richard ‘Dick’ Wayne Berry

Richard “Dick” Wayne Berry, age 82 of Salem passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022, at Twin Willows Nursing Center.

Dick was born on January 18, 1940, in Wabash County, the son of Leo and Ester (Kern) Berry.  He married Martha Eleanor McConachie on November 5, 1976, in Steelville and she survives in Salem.

In addition to his wife Martha Berry, he is survived by three children, Joshua Wayne Berry and wife Cathlina of Odin, Tony Wayne Berry and wife Laura of Campbell Hill, and Jeffrey Allen Berry and wife Sandi of Patoka; two step-children, Kristal Lynne Rednour of Sparta and Robert “Rob” William Brown and wife Susan of Salem; two grandsons-like-sons, Gavin Scott Berry and Jayden Matthew Berry; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jean Chacraft.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Scott Berry; step-daughter, Kelly Ann Brown; grandsons, A.J. Berry and Abijah Page; one step-grandson, Patrick Mickelson; and one brother, Rex Berry.

Dick was a long-time member of the Salem Assembly of God.  He worked as a Custodian for the Salem Schools for 30 years, spending the majority of that time at Franklin Park.  He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, carpentry, remodeling, demolition derbies, and racing cars.  He loved to travel and enjoyed camping. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  Anyone who knew him loved him.  Among all the things Dick enjoyed, his love for God was more valued than anything in the world.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Salem Assembly of God with Josh Phillips officiating.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the church.  Memorials can be made to the Salem Assembly of God and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem which is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
