Another big day for COVID-19 vaccinations and cases

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports more than seven million COVID-19 vaccines have now been administered in Illinois.   Friday was the third straight record-breaking day for doses administered, with 175,681 being delivered.

The number of new cases also remained high, with 3,630 reported on Saturday.  There were 13 additional deaths.  None were in South Central or Southern Illinois.

As of Friday night, there were 1,831 hospitalized as a result of COVID-19.  Of those 381 were in ICU and 178 were on ventilators.

The statewide seven-day positivity rate remained at 4.2-percent.
