Jerry Lee Baity, age 78 of Lanark, Illinois, nephew of Pastor Robert and Fern Phelps, passed away Monday, April 4, 2022, at home in Lanark. He formerly resided in Salem.
Graveside service will be held at 11:30 Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Old Bethel Cemetery, Salem, Illinois with visitation prior to the service from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Crouse Funeral Home, Salem, Illinois.
Jerry was born October 7, 1943, in Salem, Illinois. Throughout a long and productive life, Jerry lived with Cerebral Palsy, overcoming many obstacles along the way. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Rachel (Atteberry) and Leslie Eddings.
Jerry loved going places, especially eating hamburgers and going to Pizza Ranch. He enjoyed giving hugs, singing, and petting dogs. Jerry was a member of the Salem Baptist Church many years ago. He was currently a member of Pleasant Valley and Berreman Churches of God near Mt. Carroll.
Jerry will be dearly missed by his second Dad and Mom, Pastor Bob and Fern Phelps of Lanark; caregivers and special family members, Phil, Steve, and Pam Phelps, and Derek Earlenbaugh; and many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Rachel and Leslie Eddings; and a special family member, Rick Phelps.
