Walter Ross Jr., age 76 of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Christian NorthEast Hospital in St. Louis. Walter retired as a printer/ pressman at World Color Press in Salem. He had previously worked at the plant in Louisville, KY and moved to Salem to follow the job. He was a member of the Youngs Chapel Christian Church in Salem, where he served on the church board. God came first in Walter’s life. He loved his family and muscle cars. He enjoyed traveling, working out in his yard, and playing with his grandchildren.

Funeral services for Walter Ross Jr. will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Youngs Chapel Christian Church in Salem with Rusty Courson officiating. Burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery in Salem. There will be a visitation held on Saturday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Youngs Chapel Christian Church and can be received at the church on Saturday or at Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements. He married Cheryle Darlene Phelps on September 3, 1964, at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Louisville, KY, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Cheryle Ross of Salem; children, Scott Alan Ross and wife Angie of Salem and Kelley Mills and husband Jack of Salem; grandchildren, Mackenzie Castaneda and husband Brian, Katie King and husband Nathan, Megan Ross, and Andy Doudera and wife Sarah; great grandchildren, Tristen Doudera, and Adalynn Castaneda; and nephew, Bill Clark.

Walter was born on July 22, 1945 in Louisville, KY, the son of Walter Sr. and Elsie Frances (Warren) Ross. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Doris Riley.
