Two people were injured Saturday afternoon when an SUV pulled from the Spillway Road in front of a southbound pickup truck on North Broadway in Salem.

Salem Police say 79-year-old Eugena White of Bob White Court in Salem pulled in front of the pickup driven by 19-year-old Luke Barton of South Jefferson in Kinmundy.   Barton’s truck struck White’s vehicle in the driver’s side door.   She was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Salem Fire Protection District.

Both White and a passenger in her SUV, 85-year-old Donald Bery of Bob White Court in Salem, were injured and taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.

Barton and a passenger in his pickup truck, 18-year-old Brynnon Wood of Allmon Street in Salem, escaped injury.

Salem Police are continuing their investigation into the crash.  It occurred at 3:50 Saturday afternoon.  North Broadway was closed to traffic for about 40 minutes during extrication and cleanup.
