Douglas W. “Doug” Carter, age 56 of Salem, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
Doug was born on December 1, 1965, in Vandalia the son of Robert L. and Neoma K. (Jett) Carter.
He is survived by his girlfriend Cherri Hiltibidal; two children, Shania Kincaid of Effingham and Harley Douglas Carter of Salem; step-children, Mathew Hodge, Ashley Hodge, Cory Hodge, and Amber Ashlock; grandchildren, Scarlett Willenborg, Canaan Hodge, Navy Hodge, Hunter Hodge, Brooklyn Hodge, Madison Ashlock, Kinsley Ashlock, and Brynley Ashlock; siblings, Verland Carter and wife Kay of Alma, Charles R. “Bobby” Carter of Patoka, David Carter and wife Debbie of Indiana, Alfred Carter and girlfriend Rhonda Julius of Kinmundy, Sue Sanders and husband Arthur of Odin, and Janet Sullens and husband Roger of Salem; sister-in-law, Cleta Carter of Sandoval; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and several friends, but especially Darren Purcell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Delbert Carter; and two nephews, Kurtis Wayne Sullens and Jeremy Dale Carter.
Doug worked for 27 years at Aerco Sandblasting. He loved spending time with his family, shooting guns, and doing yard work. He attended New Life Church in Salem.
Funeral Services for Douglas W. “Doug” Carter will be held at Crouse Funeral Home on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 3:00 pm with Claude Howell officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Memorials can be made to the Harley Douglas Carter Trust Fund and can be received at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem.
