2022 03/29 – Tena Marie Rednour

Tena Marie Rednour, 65, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at her residence at 4:15 am March 22, 2022. Tena owned and operated The Hitching Post in Mount Vernon and then she was a correctional officer at Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. She worked on a Tennessee Valley Tug Boat as a cook. Tena was also a member of the Mount Vernon Elks. She will be missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held Monday, March 28, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon and a funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, Illinois with Mr. Jarod Peyton officiating. Interment will follow at Thomason Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Tena’s honor to her family in care of her son, Michael Rednour. Tena is survived by her sons, Greg Rednour and Michael Rednour, both of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Hallie Rednour, Finley Rednour, Gabriel Rednour; brothers, Jerry Don Peyton, and wife, Anita of Enfield, Illinois, Teddie Joe Peyton, and wife, Tricia of Springfield, Illinois, Mauri Peyton and wife Georgia of Texas, Chuck Peyton of California, Otto Peyton, and wife, Nicole of Springfield; and sister, Ronda Brookman of Bluford, Illinois.

She was born March 8, 1957 in Mount Vernon to the late Joseph Howard Peyton and Hazel Aline Taylor. In addition to her parents, Tena was preceded in death by her sister, Teresa Peyton.
