2022 03/26 – Julia E. Feltmeier

Julia E. Feltmeier, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on March 16, 2022. Julia married Frank William Feltmeier, Jr. on June 15, 1946 in Saint Louis Missouri. In November 17, 1947, Julia and Frank moved to Mt. Vernon and founded Mt. Vernon Glass Company which they operated until their respective retirements. Julia was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority, Mt. Vernon Panhellenic, member of several bridge clubs, and a member of a book club. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a past state chairman and officer of the Illinois Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church. She had recently had her 100th birthday and was surrounded by her loving family to celebrate this special occasion.

A visitation will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt Vernon, Illinois. A funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Ryan Burge officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Julia is survived by her son, Robert B. Feltmeier of Mount Vernon, Illinois; Beth Yeck (Randy) of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Scott Spangler (Kara), Alison Regan (Danny), Barrett Feltmeier (Julie), Morgan Feltmeier (Taylor Toretto); great granddaughter, Harriet Mae Feltmeier; along with one niece and three nephews.

She was born March 9, 1922 in Corso, Missouri to the late Wilfred Wilson and Mary (Motley) Whiteside. Frank and Julie were blessed with 51 years together before he proceeded her in death on July 3, 1997. In addition to her parents and her husband, Julia was preceded in death by her son, Frank William Feltmeier, III.
