Eleanor Margaret Easton, 92, of Patoka passed away Friday, March 18, 2022, surrounded by the love and support of her family.
She was born on March 24, 1929, the daughter of Louis and Ada (Arnold) Bates in Vernon. She married the love of her life Arthur Easton on April 23, 1951, in Corinth, Mississippi and he survives in Patoka.
Along with her husband of 70 years, survivors that will hold precious memories of Eleanor include her beloved family, daughter LuAnn (Kevin) Jones of Edwardsville; grandchildren Adam (Grace) Jones of St. Louis, and Whitney (Nick) Jones of Chicago; brother Bill (Marilyn) Bates of Vernon.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Ada Bates; brothers Paul Bates, Edwin Bates, Louis Bates Jr., and Larry Bates; sister Lucille Caldwell.
Eleanor was a faithful member of Patoka Christian Church and was grateful for her church family. She was no stranger to hard work, working as a beautician for 51 years, and enjoyed the friendships of many happy clients. Eleanor had a green thumb and was an amazing gardener. Her house was always filled with a display of colors from the flowers she nurtured outside. She never forgot a special event, birthday, or anniversary, making sure to send out cards in acknowledgment. Eleanor was a kind, caring lady, who treated others with love and respect. She knew the value of close family ties and the benefits of a good day of hard work. Eleanor will always be remembered, and her character will carry on in her loved ones.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21st, at the Patoka Christian Church with Minister Seth Schnautz officiating. Interment will follow at Patoka City Cemetery. Friends are welcome to a visitation time from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made in Eleanor’s honor to Patoka Christian Church or the Patoka Ambulance Service and will be accepted for the family at the funeral home 234 S. Elm Centralia, IL 62801.
