2022 03/19 – George Louis Breeze

George Louis Breeze, age 70 of Scheller passed away at 12:32 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2022, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

George was born July 17, 1951, in Mount Vernon, Illinois the son of the late Reverend Donald L. and Edna Faye (Good) Breeze. He married Linda Jean (Laur) on October 30, 1970, in Waltonville, Illinois and she survives in Scheller.

George graduated from Webber Township High School in 1969. After High School, he attended Rend Lake College and held various jobs before joining the United States Navy.

While in the Navy, George was stationed at Orlando, Florida, then Nattc Memphis in Millington, Tennessee where he attended Advanced Electronics School. After advanced training, George was assigned to Heavy Recognizance Squadron 1 (RVAH-1 Smoking Tigers) in Key West, Florida where he served as a Passive & Active Electronic Counter Measures Specialist.

George was then transferred to Fighter Squadron 74 (Be Devilers) in Oceania Virginia to be the F-4 Avionic Shop Supervisor. While there he established the highest systems readiness program ever recorded in the F-4 aircraft.  George was promoted to Chief Petty Officer. The Squadron transitioned to 14’s where he served as Quality Control Chief and Line Division Chief before being transferred to NAS Norfolk VA as the Leading Chief and Maintenance Chief for the stations C-131 Aircraft. George was retired on a Medical disability on December 28th, 1989 at NAS Norfolk, Virginia.

He was the founder of Realty Masters – Title & Escrow Company in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and founder of Realty Masters in Mt Vernon, Illinois. He was plank owner and co-founder of Life Member & Past Officer of VFW Post 9233 and member of Mt Vernon Moose Lodge 755 Past officer, Mt Vernon Airport Authority Past Board Member and Officer.

George is survived by his best friend, partner, lover, and wife, Linda J. (Laur) Breeze; mother, Edna Breeze; sons, Eric K. Breeze and Wife Wendy (Heck) of Waltonville and children, Autumn, Rylee, Benjamin, and Carson Breeze, Nathan L. Breeze and wife Ashley (Beal) of Mt Vernon and child, Colin Flanagan; daughter, Heather Redman and husband, Chris of Waltonville, Illinois and children, William and Abigail Smith; one great-grandson, Wristyn Smith; brothers, Donald Breeze and Darrell Breeze and wife, Kaye; sister, Betty Cluck and husband, Don; and several nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his father, Donald Breeze.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Full Military Rites will be held at the cemetery by the American Legion Post #141. Interment will follow at  Bald Hill Cemetery in Scheller, Illinois for immediate family only.
