2022 03/15 – Edwin Dale Hawkey

Edwin Dale Hawkey, 56, of Olney, passed away at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at the Richland Nursing and Rehab in Olney. Edwin joined the U.S. Navy and he served his country for 4 years. He then worked as a printer line worker for 3Z Printing in Teutopolis for many years. He enjoyed going golfing, reading, and spending time out fishing. One of Edwin’s major reads was having read the Bible from cover to cover and was still an avid reader of the Bible.

Funeral services honoring the life of Edwin will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at the McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Kinmundy with Gene Birch officiating, burial will follow at the Keen’s Chapel Cemetery, Farina. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday where friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Edwin’s memory to the Effingham County Humane Society, or the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and will be accepted through the funeral home. Edwin is survived by his sisters; Debbie (Jim) Holmes, of Olney, Marlena McCoy, of Watson, brothers; Glen Hawkey, of Evansville, Indiana, Bruce Hawkey, of Evansville, Indiana, Earl (Angela) Hawkey, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and numerous nieces, and nephews.

Edwin was born on November 6, 1965, in Vandalia, Illinois the son of Earl and Ruby “Hites” Hawkey. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Connie Holzl, and a special friend; Helen Limes.
