Ferva Belle Lowry, 88, of Centralia, passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday morning, March 2, 2022, surrounded by her family.
She was born December 16, 1933, in Iuka, the daughter of Doy L. and Media P. Roseanna (Dickey) Clifton. On September 20, 1958, in Iuka, she married Gilbert Lowry, and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2020.
She was a graduate of Salem High School and attended Central City Baptist Church. In her younger years, Ferva enjoyed planting and tending large vegetable and flower gardens. She loved to cook and bake desserts, especially fresh blackberry cobbler. She was very meticulous about keeping records of birthdays, weddings, and other significant dates of friends and family. If you forgot a date, Ferva could tell you.
She is survived by two daughters, Lora Lea Wernsman and husband Jamie of Lebanon, Ohio, and Mary Kay Castellari and husband Jeff of Centralia; two grandchildren, Tori Wernsman and spouse Ryn of Chicago, and Sam Wernsman of Mason, Ohio; two brothers, Lonnie Clifton of Evansville, Indiana, and Dennis Clifton and wife Janet of Trenton; and sister-in-law, Shirley Clifton, of Wayne City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Lowry; her parents; and a brother, Lowell Clifton.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Lowry will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Palestine Cemetery, in rural Iuka, with Rev. Richard Heinz officiating.
