Lavern Sloat, 81, of Centralia, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022. Lavern was a avid quilter and seamstress. She enjoyed working on SUDOKU puzzles and watching T.V. Lavern loved spending time with her family and friends.

Funeral Services for Lavern Sloat will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 12:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Rev. Dean Gramlick officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Six Lemons and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Sloat Family. She is survived by her two children: Tony Sloat and wife Marilyn of Centralia and Tamara Cox and special friend Brian Mosby of Centralia; eight grandchildren: Jill Michalek and husband Todd of Texas, Mark Redfern of Illinois, Keith Luttrell and wife Chasity of Tennessee, Kelly Reed and wife Raven of Junction City, Tony Ray Sloat, Jr. and wife Candace of Centralia, Mandy Fehland and husband Matt of Wisconsin, Misty Schaeffer and husband Todd of Irvington, and Christopher Pratt and wife Brianna of Indiana; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister: Connie Gramlick and husband Dean of Dexter, Missouri; a brother: Glenn Morgan of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers-in-law: Ronnie Sloat and wife Lorene of Centralia and Larry Sloat of Centralia; several nieces and nephews.

She was born April 6, 1940 in Qulin, Missouri, the daughter of Samuel E. Morgan and Ruth (Tucker) Morgan. She married Jackey “Jack” Sloat on October 6, 1956 in Salem and he preceded her in death on October 28, 2019. Lavern was preceded in death by her parents: Samuel and Ruth Morgan, a daughter: Cynthia Lynn Sloat, a great-grandson: Maverick Michael Ray Pratt and a brother: James Morgan.
