2022 03/05 – Scott Steele

Scott Michael Steele, age 37 of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Salem, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

Scott was born on July 1, 1984, in Vandalia, the son of Michael and Marcia (Sullens) Steele.

Scott is survived by his daughter, Amaya; mother and step-father, Marcia Tannahill and husband Walter of Woodlawn; sister, Kelsie Rippy of Mt. Vernon; step-sister, Jacque Withrow and husband Steve of Bluford; step-brother, Nick Tannahill of Chatham; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Steele; and grandparents, Max and Mary Sullens, Ray Steele, and Ellie Armstrong.

Scott loved the outdoors, enjoying rock climbing, camping, and swimming.  He loved music, socializing and never met a stranger.  He was an extremely intelligent and witty person and was not afraid to tell you if you were wrong.  No matter how many times Scott was knocked down, he always managed to get back up.  The most important thing to Scott was his daughter, Amaya.

Funeral services for Scott Michael Steele will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 11:00 am at Crouse Funeral Home with Phil Martin officiating.  Burial will be in Iuka Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Saturday, from 10:00 am until the time of the service.  Memorials can be made towards an education fund for his daughter Amaya and can be left at Crouse Funeral Home which is assisting the family.  Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
