2022 02/23 – Georgetta “Etta” Bassett

Georgetta “Etta” Bassett, 73, of Kinmundy, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She worked as a clerk at the IGA in Kinmundy, and Brown’s Produce in Farina for several years. Etta was a very good cook, and loved all animals but she especially loved horses, and she loved to raise a garden.

It was Georgetta’s wishes for cremation and a private graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at the Sandy Branch Cemetery, Kinmundy. In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made in Georgetta’s memory to the Humane Society of Marion County and will be accepted through the funeral home. She married Robert C. Bassett, on September 13, 1992, in Kinmundy, and they shared 29 years of marriage. Georgetta is survived by her husband; Robert C. Bassett, of Kinmundy, her 4 siblings; Rita Reynolds, of Kinmundy, Georganna (Willi) Hawkey, of Kinmundy, Doyle (Adrienne) Reynolds, of Idaho, Doyne (Linda Schicker) Reynolds, of Kinmundy, and several nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Georgetta was born on March 25, 1948, in Effingham, the daughter of Ralph and Henrietta (Barber) Reynolds. Georgetta was preceded in death by her parents.
