Peggy Chambliss, 81, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 6:25 pm February 16, 2022 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor. Mrs. Chambliss was of the Baptist faith and worked for the Shoe Factory Office. Peggy was very proud of her family farm and she was typically found driving a grain truck. She was a loving mother and a very proud grandmother to all of her grandkids and great-grandkids. Peggy will be dearly missed.

Peggy married Dwight Chambliss on June 25, 1960 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. In addition to her loving husband of nearly sixty-two years, Peggy is survived by her son, D.H. Chambliss and wife, Tammy of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter, Lisa Trout and husband, Kevin of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Josh Trout and wife, Emily, Jacob Trout and wife, Katie, Amanda Schafer and husband, Zack; great-grandchildren, Eli Trout, Nora Trout, Lydia Borger, Izaiah Borger, Drew Schafer, and Zoey Schafer; sister, Joyce Rogers and husband, Don of Mount Vernon, Illinois; close dear friend, Ruthann Whitlock; and several nieces and nephews.
She was born October 4, 1940 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Claude and Vivian (Robinson) Howell. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, Claude “Sonny” Howell and grandparents, Robert and Letha (Moore) Howell and Ivan and Beatrice (Allen) Robinson.
