Kenneth Dale “Kenny” Kash, 77, of Bonnie, Illinois, went home to be with his Savior at 7:26 am February 10, 2022, surrounded by his family. The eighth child of ten, Kenneth attended Bonnie Grade School.
He enjoyed playing basketball and horseback riding with his cousin, Gary Cook. Kenneth always had an entrepreneurial spirit. He was the owner of Kenny’s Cleaning Service. Alongside his wife, Helen, he owned the Bonnie Cafe for several years. He enjoyed working for the Walker family at the truck stop and later started Kenny’s Trash Service.
Kenneth loved spending time with Helen, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He never met a stranger and loved talking to people. Kenneth enjoyed participating in Jefferson Antique Iron Club, going on group tractor trips around Jefferson County, and serving on the Bonnie Village Board as the mayor.
In his early years, he was involved with Bonnie Saddle Club and the thrill and stories of competition coon hunting and bird hunting with his brothers, nephews, and friends. Kenneth loved the Lord Jesus Christ and fondly remembers spending time with Reverend Jesse Allen at Nason Freewill Baptist Church growing up. He was a mentor and friend that led to Kenneth knowing Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was a member at the Bonnie Baptist Church in Bonnie, Illinois for many years.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, February 13, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 14, 2022, at 1:00 pm with Reverend Jim Beaty officiating. Interment will follow at Kirk Cemetery in Ina, Illinois. Kenneth married Helen Lorraine (Jones) Kash on December 15, 1962. Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Helen Kash; daughters, Tammy Shelton and husband, David and Penny Owens and husband, Alan; grandchildren, Jonathon Shelton, Bethany Bradford, Nicole Mischke and husband, Hank, and Chelsey Webb; great-grandchildren, Liam Bradford, Colin Bradford, Darcy Bradford, Jordan Mischke, and Hazel Mischke; siblings, Wayne Kash and wife, Brenda, Jackie Kash and wife, Audrey, and Glenda Downen and husband, Jimmy; siblings-in-law, Nomalee Kash, Phyllis Kash, and Bill Pierce; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his siblings, Floyd Kash, Virgil Kash, Jr., Billy Kash, Bobby Kash, JoAnn Pierce, and Norma Kash; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Kash and Darlene “Smokey” Kash; and nephews, Danny Kash, Paul Kash, and Robert Dale Kash.
He was born July 3, 1944, in Ina, Illinois to the late Virgil and Sula (Page) Kash.
