2022 02/12 – Priscilla M. “Pat” Artis

Priscilla M. “Pat” Artis, 81, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 1:44 p.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital, in Mt. Vernon. Priscilla was a person of many different interests. She played the piano and sang in church. She was a dentist’s assistant, hotel manager, courier driver, certified nurse’s assistant, and coast-to-coast truck driver. She loved traveling through the western United States and would tell stories of her adventures on the open road. She also worked for Crossroads Community hospital in Mount Vernon for 20+ years. During that time, she went back to school to receive her dietary certification and served as the dietary supervisor. Priscilla loved to make crafts. She often went to craft shows to sell her creations. You could always find her either at her craft table or watching shows about crafting or surfing on Pinterest to get new ideas. She had special affection for Native American art and especially wolves. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In accordance with Priscilla’s wishes, burial has taken place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Her family will be hosting a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Dahlgren Baptist Church, in Dahlgren. She is survived by her children, Teresa L. Dodson of Mt. Vernon, David “DeWayne” Artis and wife Sheryl of Mt. Vernon, and Douglas Edward Artis and wife Rebecca of Clarksville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She was born February 21, 1940, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Edward and Lucille (Riley) Schreck. She was preceded in death by her parents.
