Marjorie Keyes, 94, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 12:25 pm on January 27, 2022, at Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon. She was born November 22, 1927, in Park Ridge, Illinois to Walter and LuLu (Cassman) Freezee.
Marjorie married Edward “Ed” Donaldson Keyes on June 4, 1949, in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey. They were blessed with 71 years of marriage before his passing on October 19, 2020.
Marjorie is survived by her 3 children, Stephen Edward Keyes and wife, Debra of Noblesville, Indiana, John David Keyes and wife, Debbie of Springfield, Illinois, and Daniel “Dan” Stuart Keyes and wife, Mary of Mount Vernon; 9 grandchildren, Melissa Meyer and husband, Brian, Rachelle Walters and husband, Kevin, Marcie Larson and husband, Joe, Karmen Keyes and wife, Bethany, John David Keyes, Jr., Christin Braswell and husband Greg, Diana Depyatic and fiance, Josh James, Brian Keyes and wife, Sarah Jo, and Dayna Toliver and husband Shawn; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 sisters, Nancee Dixon of Florida, and Carol Brown- Curran and husband, Ed of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Wilbur “Wil” Freezee.
Marjorie assisted her husband with Coast to Coast Hardware before working for Words of Life book store. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon and will be missed by all who knew her.
It was Marjorie’s wish to be cremated and a celebration of life will be held on February 12, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Central Christian Church. A visitation will be held prior from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
