Donna L. Capps, 67, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away February 7, 2022 at Good Samaritan Regional Healthcare Center in Mount Vernon. Donna was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church and served as the Sunshine Lady Council of Catholic Church. She was loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 11, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Mary with Father Nick Junker officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Donna is survived by her son, Michael Capps and wife, Sonya of Fenton, Missouri; three step granddaughters, Kaylea Gleason, Morgan Gleason, and Josie Gleason; brother, Ted Ziarnek of Michigan City, Indiana; three sisters, Mildred Phipps of Countryside, Illinois, Theodine Phipps of Countryside, Illinois, and Mary Jo Adcock and husband, Garry of Bluford, Illinois.
Donna was born January 5, 1955 to Frank and Evelyn (Tate) Ziarnek. Donna married Clyde David Capps on May 24, 1975 at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church in Mount Vernon. They were blessed with 44 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on February 7, 2019. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde.
