2022 02/10 – Arthur Herman

Arthur C. Herman, age 88 of Salem passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on Friday, February 4, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.

Arthur was born on May 29, 1933, the son of Leo and Dorothy (Seasongood) Herman.  He married Lillian (Kuhlig) Herman on November 19, 1955, in Olney and she preceded him in death on December 7, 2010.

He is survived by three sons, Edward Herman and wife Kathy of Newark, Ohio, Ronald Herman and friend Becky Jean of Salem, and Wayne Herman of Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Lisa Bartley and husband Mike of Salem; grandchildren, Jenny Herman and boyfriend Brett Bell, Becky Moran and husband Clifford, Avery Herman, LeeAnna Rodriguez and husband Jose, Katie Herman, Jamie Herman and boyfriend Travis Moeller, Jackson Herman and wife Kelly, Michael Bartley, Tony Bartley and girlfriend Alannah, and Christina Bartley; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Tindall, Krystan Woodward, Richie Allison, Adam Eagan, Alyza Rodriguez, Treyden Moeller, Brynlee Moeller, and Waylon Bartley; one sister, Betty Chamberlain and husband Dudley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Virginia Kuehl and Mary Cantrell; and one brother, Maurice Herman.

Arthur graduated from Olney High School and then served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He then married his sweetheart Lillian Kuhlig and they went on to raise their four children in the most loving and caring way.  Arthur worked at Laco Electronics and retired from there after more than 40 years with the company.  He enjoyed gardening, metal locating, fishing, and spending time with his family.  He was an active member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church and was very strong in his faith.

Funeral Mass will be held at Crouse Funeral Home on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 11:00 am with Father Abraham Adejoh officiating.  Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.  Military rites will be accorded at the cemetery by the Salem American Legion.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.  Memorials can be made to St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church and can be left at the funeral home.  Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
